I love the mixture of texture and use of colour in this look. I am loving the red boots that make the look really edgy and check out that bag with the 60's fashion icon Twiggy's face on. Love it!
What do you think of this outfit? Let me know.
Another Style 365 coming soon so please stay tuned!
I have some
very exciting news to share with you all, as many of you may have seen I am
apart of the Independent Fashion Bloggers, a group that I am very proud to be
apart of.
IFB as it is more commonly known runs a feature where they
ask members to submit one of their weekly posts. Only the top 20 posts are
chosen to be feature in ‘Links A La Mode’ and this week my post is one of the
featured blogs.
This is amazing thing for me, as it has really boosted my
confidence when it comes to fashion blogging. When I first started I knew I had
the passion as fashion is my life but I lacked the confidence that anyone would
be interested in my blog. I have worked hard over the last few months with the guidance
of IFB, various blogging books and my fellow blogging housemate.
All I can say is that there are so many amazing fashion
blogs out there and I would encourage you to check out some of the ones that
are featured in the Links A La Mode post below.
Let’s Hear It For The Boys
Edited By Taylor Davies For this week’s LALM round up, I’d like to pay tribute to the men out there. I’ve noticed over the past few months that we’ve had a lot more menswear bloggers contributing their posts to the forum, showing their taste, their interpretation of trends and great writing style. Sprinkled in with Russian style icons, DIY projects and a gorgeous photo shoot set at a chateau in France – you’ll find some menswear posts that will inspire the dudes and the ladies.
LINKS À LA MODE: THE IFB WEEKLY ROUND UP: OCTOBER 18TH
Today’s
film is called Eva & Doug Go on Holiday and is by David Longshaw.
You maybe sat there after watching this film thinking ‘what does
this animation, have to do with David Longshaw’s SS13 collection?’; I know I
was but it was only earlier this week when I attended Felicities press show,
where I had the chance to see his SS13 collection in real life that it all
suddenly made sense to me.
This animation looks to tell the viewer about the story of
his inspiration behind his collection and I can tell you that this is really
cleverly done as the set as well as the characters all feature within David’s
prints.
Below is a screen shot of David’s SS13 collection taken from
his website.
For me I love the fun and playfulness of David’s collection.
Each piece is edgy and can be worn for a fun day at the seaside or for an
evening out with friends. Below are two of my favourite pieces from the
collection.
What do you think of the video and David Longshaw’s SS13 collection?
What are your favourite pieces?
I hope you have enjoyed reading my post and I look forward
to hearing your thoughts. Remember to join me tomorrow for another fashion
film.
This film is very different from the ones that I have been
posting about so far as this doesn't tell a story in the same way as the other
designers. Filmed as an interview, it looks to inform the viewer about the thought
behind the brand and collection.
Although, I understand the concept behind the brand, the
clothing for me is not really my style as I prefer more edgy clothing but if you
were to take this element away you are left with some beautiful jewellery that
can be worn in various ways and can be added to edgier pieces of clothing in
order to create a unique style.
What do you think of the video and Arianna Cerrito’s
collection? What are your favourite pieces?

Today’s film is called Exclusion and features the SS13
Collection from Phannatiq.
This contemporary film has been directed by Jack Henry James.
The first scenes that we see are of a free runner, suddenly he spots the beautiful
woman who is wearing the most amazing dress. Filming on a housing estate gives this a real
urban edginess which is perfect for the collection. As the film continues we
follow the woman who is chasing the free runner around as he does back flips
and jumps from various highs. This film reminds me of the channel 4 program
misfits which I am a massive fan of. There is something fierce, hard and edgy
to this film and this really makes the collection stand out as something that
you could wear and feel sexy, confident and really powerful in.
I love the mixture of printed silks, chiffons and jersey
within this collection and Phannatiq which is designed by Anna Skodbo shows her
love affair with the forgotten London, urban industrial decay and street art in
her prints, garment shapes and fits that break the norm.
As many other designers that have been featured, you will not be surprised to hear that Phannatiq, is an ethically sourced brand that is produced using hand silk printing techniques. Each piece is made by hand in the UK to make them unique which allows this brand to continuously work on their sustainability and carbon footprint.
Below shows a scene capture of one my favourite piece from
the collection, I love this dress it is beautiful.

Directed by Tess Savina, a smoke stream sets the mysterious
drama of this film that is all about Tramp In Disguise’s collection as a pose
to a story.
Tramp in Disguire is a label by Finnish designer Sini
Moilanen. Studying Fashion Textiles Design at the University of Brighton she
subsequently progressed on to study a Masters Degree specialising within
knitwear design at the Royal College of Art.
Sini is a self taught print designer and continuing with the
colourful prints that this label is known for, this season prints inspired by the
legends of Atlantis feature on silk and jersey dresses.
Below shows a scene capture of one my favourite piece from
the collection, as I have mentioned a few times in my posts, I am a big fan of
prints and I love the colours of this print which is fun and youthful.

in Disguise’s collection? What

Today’s film is called Moon Goddess and features the
jewellery collection of Julia Burness.
Set in the woods the vanishing and reappearing with
jewellery goddess explore them to find jewellery pieces at selected point along
her journey to the altar where she harness energy from the Sun in order to
complete her mission to balance both the Sun and Moon energies on Earth.
I think this film is beautiful and the dream like innocence
reminds me of the forest scene in Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’
which I believe is the perfect setting to complement Julia’s Jewellery.
Taking vintage lace from local marketplaces, Julia then
casts these using recycled metals to create what I can only describe as beautiful
metal lace. The definition of the lace patterns is amazing and can be seen in
the forms of rings, cuffs, earrings and necklaces.
Below shows a scene capture of one my favourite piece from
the collection, I love the shape of it with the delicate detailing of the lace.
All of Julia’s collection is hand made and wanting to remain
eco-friendly she creates her pieces of jewellery using only recycled metals or
fair trade gold which once again goes back to what I was talking about in yesterday’s
post.
What do you think of the video and Julia’s collection? What
are your favourite pieces?

The first film that I am going to share with you in today’s
spotlight is called Tigress Reign featuring the SS13 collection of Ada
Zanditon.
The film has been directed by Thomas Knights who’s name you
may not recognise but I can assure you that you have quite possibility seen his
work without knowing it.
The opening scene shows a girl walking down the road, her
outfit is amazing and I love the way that she holds the flowing fabric in her
hand as she hitch-hikes for a ride.
As the car slows to a stop to collect her, the viewer is unsure
who is behind the wheel, but we are instantly introduced to the very fierce ‘hunter’.
This opening scene reminds me of the Lady Gaga and Beyonce ‘telephone’ video,
which leave me wanting to see more.
My favourite part is the scene with the beautiful sunset in ‘2
days earlier…’ which is breath taking and the styling of the ‘hunters’ outfit really
adds an edginess to this scene. I also love the wild wild west style music that
is featured on the next scene where the ‘tigress’ playfully seduces the viewer.
This film shows Ada Zanditon SS13 collection off
beautifully, I love the mixture of soft chiffon and the hardness of the metallic
fabrics which allows this collection to cater to a wider customer base.
Ada’s film has been sponsored by Easy Jet and was shot
on the beautiful island of Cyprus which was the perfect location as it has really
allowed her to explore her brand ethos.
The prints which are Ada’s illustrations are once again
featured within this new collection. I loved the prints used in her previous
SS12 collection as I find them interesting as they explore Ada’s inspiration of
‘scientific perspective on the environment, modern architectural forms and a
blending of historical journeys with future fantasy’ so to find that she has
carried on exploring this in her new collection makes me very excited to see
how she will continue in her future collections.
Below shows a scene capture of one my favourite piece from
the collection which mixes all of the above to create a soft but edgy piece.
I think what stands out for me about Ada is that as fashion
designer she has chosen to be focused on ethical and sustainability issues within
an area that is notoriously know for not
been ethical.
I am seeing more and more new designers that are passionate
about this and for me it is really refreshing and these are the people that
will change the face of fashion.
What do you think of the video and Ada’s SS13 collection? What
are your favourite pieces?
I hope you have enjoyed reading my post and I look forward
to hearing your thoughts. Remember to join me tomorrow for another fashion
film.
Yesterday, Felicities PR sent me through new fashion films by
some of London’s most talented new designers. Over the next 8 days, I will be posting
a film a day and sharing what I love about these films. It is also an opportunity
for you to share with me your thoughts on them.
Below is Felicities show reel which is something that will
wet your appetite and show you a little bit of what you can expect to see over
the few days within this feature.
I hope you enjoy this feature and I look forward to hearing
your comments and thoughts!
The girl! x
