Spotlight – Charlotte Simpson SS13 Collection

Today I am looking at the SS13 Collection of fashion designer Charlotte Simpson, whose pieces have been spotted been worn by a few celebrities of late and when you see these pieces you know why as the are simply beautiful with bead work that must have taken Charlotte months to bead. Her attention to detail is breath taking.

Charlotte studied Fashion at Northumbria University and on graduating in 2009 she won the Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles award at Graduate Fashion Week. Before starting her own company in 2012, Charlotte gained an MA in Fashion Design and Technology Womenswear at London College of Fashion and gained experience working with some amazing brands including Amanda Wakeley and Julien Macdonald.

I managed to see Charlotte's collection at a trade show and in seeing her pieces; you can see that she looks to express her knowledge for her craft with an exceptional eye in order to create a contemporary yet classic twist which results in unique and elegant lines for any chic woman’s wardrobe.

For her SS13 collection, Charlotte took inspiration from scientific imagery to create slick lines using a soft colour palette of pastels. I love the use of micro sequins and beads within this collection. Charlotte has beautifully executed her theme of microbiology by mixing textures with slashed neckline and cinched in waists.

Music Monday - Blurred Lines

It’s the last bank holiday of May and I hope that you all have a great one! For today’s Music Monday I am sharing with you a video for the song that I think will be the song of the summer. It's a sound that goes back to a time when music got deep into your bones and made you move to the funky beat.

I'm sure you have guessed by now this week video is by ‘Robin Thicke ft. T.I. & Pharrell’. I love the styling of the girls that feature in this video, white with see through plastic pieces finished off with chunky gold chain accessories looks cool and street fresh. The boys also show how to dress in this video and as I always have a weakness for a man in a suit, I really think they are looking hot in the video and set a standard for men’s dressing.

So all that is left for me to say is enjoy the last day of the bank holiday by turning your speakers up and getting your groove on to the fresh sound of ‘Blurred lines’, enjoy!

Music Monday - Run the World

It's Monday and today I am sharing with you a really powerful song by a lady who is touring at the moment. I heard this song on a night out over the weekend and it got the whole club moving and I thought that it would be the perfect song for Music Monday as it features some amazing clothing in it. 

I remember when this music video first came out, not only did the amazing beat and lyrics as many of her songs give every woman empowerment. I was also blown away with the styling of this video at is raw and embraces everything this song is about.
