A few months ago, I did a test shoot with the fantastic
photographer Marianne Paraskeva and Make up & hair stylist Bunny Allen. We
wanted to create something around big hair and these are the results of our
hard work.
I hope you have enjoyed my blog!
Another blog coming soon including behind the
look which will talk about the inspiration behind this shoot so please stay
tuned!
Today’s fashion film features the AW12 collection by Beautiful
Soul London, and after meeting the founder and creative director Nicola Woods (who
asked to be featured last in this spotlight feature) it seems very fitting and
right to share this with you of all weeks.
Why you may ask after watching this film is this so fitting
for this week. Well, when I met Nicola, she told me that the collection was
named ‘Olivia Rose’ after her two grandmothers. She drew inspiration for this
collection from love letters that they each wrote to their sweethearts and her
grandfathers who were serving in the Second World War.
On Sunday it will be Remembrance Day; a day in which we
reflect and give thanks to the amazing soldiers that have lost their lives, limbs
or the ones that are fighting in order to give people like you and I, our
freedom.
Nicola
filmed this in London’s Notting Hill during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend
and featuring true British weather, the rain, really adds to the film and reinforces
that this really is a British brand.
My favourite pieces from this collection are the poppy
printed chiffon dresses. They are feminine and delicate which adds romance to
this collection.
As many designers that I have featured in this fashion film
spotlight, Beautiful Soul is a sustainable brand and is committed to local and
UK based production. After talking with Nicola, I found that we both believe in
the regeneration of UK manufacturing and textile production, something that is
sadly a dying trade. It is brands like Beautiful Soul and other designers that
will change the UK market.
I will be supporting them all the way through this fight
with consumer awareness; it is only you as a consumer that can make the choice
to be aware of where your outfit today has come from.
What do you think of the video and Beautiful Soul's AW12 collection? What are your favourite pieces?
I hope you have enjoyed this fashion film spotlight feature and I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please
don’t forget to get your poppy for Remembrance Day. If you haven’t seen one of
the many volunteers yet, you can always head over to the British Legion’s
website to make a donation to show your gratefulness and thanks to these brave
people. Please click here to be taken to their website.
Today's fashion film features the SS13 collection of womenswear fashion brand Xsenia & Olya.
It’s a dream like film that reminds me of the Rhianna music
video ‘We Found Love’ in the sense of the style. Directed by Gareth Phillips,
it features the music of Warts and voice-over of Joel Butler.
I love the spring summer feel of this film, it makes you
believe that you can wear these pieces within your daily life and be comfortable
and stylish. I really like the scene where the girl is in the field with the
flare, its shows the fun and playfulness of this collection.
Below is a scene shot of my favourite piece from the film, I
really like the softness of the digital prints used within this collection.
Xsenia & Olya is a collaboration between designers Xsenia
Runa and Olya Shishkina who met while studying at Central St Martins. They are hailed
as today’s most exciting emerging womenswear brands due to the use of striking
digital prints and geometrical forms within their collections.
What do you think of the video and Xsenia & Olya's SS13 collection? What are your favourite pieces?
I hope you have enjoyed reading my post and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year! It’s a
time for me to get my creative juices flowing by coming up the perfect Halloween
outfit. For the last 3 years I have always hosted a themed house party and when
I say themed, I mean in the sense that it is something that is taken very
seriously.
Year one was a UV Halloween party, we decorated the house in
UV lights. The photos below show our efforts for this theme.
Being heavily influenced by vampires that year, I dressed up
as a vampire bride.
Year two the theme of the party was a tiki Halloween theme
and the voodoo and punch was in full flow while I dressed up as a dead Carmen Miranda.

Last years theme was a bit of a disaster as a UFO crashed into
our house and the FBI took over. I’m sure you have all guessed that our theme
was sci-fi and we turned half the house into a space ship which used a lot of
tin foil and had an alien dissected which held the food. I dressed
up as the air hostess from the film ‘The fifth element’.

This year I was invited to the Idol Magazine Fear and Fashion
Halloween Party with my friend and the photographer that shot the cover of Idol
Magazine latest issue Michael Furlonger.
I decided to dress up as the Mexican traditional Day of the
Dead (Día de los Muerto). Below shows my make up and also a photo of me
and Michael (far right) at the party.

I can not take all the credit for my make up, not really
having any idea where to start I sort help and found the most amazing tutorial
from venusocean.
Check out her videos, she does make it look easy but she really is an artist. Here is the one I used.
I hope that you all had a great Halloween and I would love
to hear what you all dressed up as.
