Spotlight - CFW SS14 Collections - Barbara I Gongini - Womenswear

If you have read my previous posts this week you will have seen that I have shared with you the runway video (please check here) and my thoughts on Barbara í Gongini’s  SS14 menswear collection (please check here). Today I am going to share with you all my thoughts on her womenswear collection.

Like her menswear collection for SS14 Barbara uses her monochrome colour palette with hints of grey pieces coming through. Multi layering was still key for the collection but these became softer and more femine while oversized jackets created strong silhouettes.

Although I love her avant-garde pieces as they add interest, the softness of the layered dresses creates a fresh and edgy look that is perfect for summer nights.

What do you think of the collection? Do you have a favourite piece? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I hope you have enjoyed today's post.

Spotlight - CFW SS14 Collections - Barbara I Gongini - Menswear

You may have checked out the runway video for fashion designer Barbara í Gongini’s  SS14 collection that was shown at CFW (please check it out here if you missed it) in yesterday's post. Today I am going to share with you all my thoughts on the menswear collection.

Graduating from Denmark’s Design School, Institute of Unica Design in 1996 and her work takes a commercial yet minimalistic approach exploring functionality in design.

For SS14, Barbara continues to uses a monochrome colour palette as she has for the past few seasons. Multi layering was key for the collection and inverted layers created fluid lines and shapes while stretched tops and shirts added fresh silhouettes.

I really love the trousers that have pocket shapes over layers on as this is something that has not been around. I also think that the collection is very easy, looks comfortable to wear and could easily translate in to a man wardrobe to become a key piece for their lifestyle.

What do you think of Barbara's menswear collection. Do you have any favourite pieces?

I hope you have enjoyed today's post and please also check back tomorrow for my thoughts on her womenswear collection.

Spotlight - CFW SS14 Collections - Anne Sofie Madsen

Last season I shared my thoughts on Anne Sofie Madsen’s AW13 collection (Click here to view) and today I am going to be sharing my thoughts on Anne’s SS14 collection.

If you checked out my post yesterday you will have seen that I had shared the runway film (click here to view) with you. It featured a mainly momochrome palette with hints of light greys.

As I explained in my AW13 post I am a massive fan of Anne's, she is a designer that for explores concepts through a dark and unique craftmanship taking a commercial approach while combining couture looks.

For her SS14 collection she seeks inspiration from the world of Japanese manga to create warrior style dresses that feature armour detailing teamed with more sporty inspired pieces. Structured panels created clean lines and curves while sheer panel details offered a touch of femine to the collection. Short was key within this collection and that came through dresses and crop tops.

I love this collection, as you all know I am a massive fan of attention to detail and this collection does not fail when looking at it. Anne's avant-garde style is beautifully executed to create pieces that could sit in any woman's wardrobe. Below are some of my favourite pieces from the collection.

I hope you have enjoyed todays post and please make sure you let me know your thoughts on Anne's collection. Do you have any favourite pieces?
