spotlight: Vivienne Westwood and English National Ballet Collaboration

I read the other day that Vivienne Westwood has joined forces with the English National Ballet and as a fan of Vivienne’s work I really wanted to check this out.

Vivienne has loan pieces of her work to the new campaign that has rebranded the website and logo.

"I am thrilled that Vivienne Westwood has agreed to let us use her clothes in our first campaign, it's a dream come true to be able to collaborate with someone of such stature.  Her designs capture the creativity and ambition of our dancers who, in turn, add drama and movement to the clothes."

I am a big fan of ballet and I think that it great that Vivienne is supporting this campaign as her outfits are always beautifully theatrical.

I love these images; they set the scene for how beautiful a ballet production can be. The drama, grace and beauty of a ballerina have been translated in the elegance of Vivienne’s designs.

Spotlight - Love Retro

While visiting my friend in Cagliari, Sardinia, she took me to the most amazing shop that I have ever been in and one that I really wish was in London. Love Retro is a vintage clothing and accessories heaven!

Love Retro is situated on Cagliari's 'Via Sulis' which is what I can only describe as what 'Bond Street' is to London as it houses more prestigious brands and boutiques. Given this, you can imagine that 'Love Retro' is not like any vintage boutique you may have stepped in, it is home to vintage designer pieces, one off's that only a fashionista can dream of.

Started up by Alice and her dog, which she refers to as the boss, 2 years ago she travels around Europe seeking out only the best vintage pieces. For Alice vintage means the art of true craftsmanship so she only stocks Love Retro with the best that she can find.

 When you step into Love Retro, you can sense Alice's passion for all things Vintage. The layout of the shop is beautiful, it’s spacious but yet each corner is full of designer treasures that you really get excited about finding. 

Love Retro also stocks new designers that have been hand picked by Alice and these pieces don’t look out of place among the vintage pieces as these too are individual and unique.

I love this shop and everything in it, it’s like walking into a beautiful modern time capsule with the most beautiful things in it. Clothing that has not only been designed by the much loved fashion houses of today but pieces with a story. If these pieces could talk; wouldn't you love to know what they would say? Which glamorous lady wore them, which event she wore it to but most of all you could wear this piece of clothing and feel exactly how she felt when she wore this piece. That would be an amazing feeling wouldn't it?
