Why you may ask after watching this film is this so fitting
for this week. Well, when I met Nicola, she told me that the collection was
named ‘Olivia Rose’ after her two grandmothers. She drew inspiration for this
collection from love letters that they each wrote to their sweethearts and her
grandfathers who were serving in the Second World War.
On Sunday it will be Remembrance Day; a day in which we
reflect and give thanks to the amazing soldiers that have lost their lives, limbs
or the ones that are fighting in order to give people like you and I, our
freedom.
Nicola
filmed this in London’s Notting Hill during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend
and featuring true British weather, the rain, really adds to the film and reinforces
that this really is a British brand.
My favourite pieces from this collection are the poppy
printed chiffon dresses. They are feminine and delicate which adds romance to
this collection.
As many designers that I have featured in this fashion film
spotlight, Beautiful Soul is a sustainable brand and is committed to local and
UK based production. After talking with Nicola, I found that we both believe in
the regeneration of UK manufacturing and textile production, something that is
sadly a dying trade. It is brands like Beautiful Soul and other designers that
will change the UK market.
I will be supporting them all the way through this fight
with consumer awareness; it is only you as a consumer that can make the choice
to be aware of where your outfit today has come from.
What do you think of the video and Beautiful Soul's AW12 collection? What are your favourite pieces?
I hope you have enjoyed this fashion film spotlight feature and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Please don’t forget to get your poppy for Remembrance Day. If you haven’t seen one of the many volunteers yet, you can always head over to the British Legion’s website to make a donation to show your gratefulness and thanks to these brave people. Please click here to be taken to their website.
