I'm sure you are all like me, as soon as the new year starts you promise yourself that this will be the year that you get your fitness on track.
Well I have been saying this to myself since the 1st of January, and now over a month has past and as yet I haven't got myself in the mind set.
You may all know from reading my other posts that I have started learning flamenco dancing, something that I have been wanting to learn for so long. Since starting this, it has really made me realise how I have really let my fitness slip.
So to help me get in the frame of mind I thought that I would purchase some new sports wear but with sports luxe been on trend there is so much to chose from that I didn't know where to start. If you are reading this and are feeling the same as me then not to worry as I have put together some ideas for different fitness routines that you can take influence from in order to help kick start your fitness.
Now I'm not really a fan of running but it is a very popular form of fitness with many people. The key thing when taking up this fitness routine is to invest in specialized footwear that supports you when you place your foot on the floor. I'm personally not a runner but if you fancy a challenge then why not sign up for the Nike 'We Own The Night' 2014 challenge that will be taking place in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and Milan.
Yoga
Swimming
Now before I started writing this post I never really thought that swimming was a great way of keep fit for me but as I started reading articles, I found out that it is one of the best ways to keep fit.
The best thing about this form of fitness is that you don't need
to do a crazy fast Olympic swim to burn the calories. By just taking a
gentle 30 minute swim you will burn between 200-350 calories and is
the equivalent of doing a 45-60 minute land based workout! What more is there to say!
Gym
Now I am really not a fan of the gym, which is why I am not a member of one. Don't get me wrong I have been a member of a gym in the past but I find that I never use my membership as I just can't motivate myself to go. That been said, for many people this is a great way to keep fit.
Dance
Bokwa is a new form of fitness that is becoming popular. I have never tried it but from what I have read, it is a lot easier than it looks and you can even do it if you can't dance!
Cycling
Yoga
For many years I never understood why
people were into this form of fitness then one of my close friends convinced me
to go to Bikram yoga and I have now become one of them people. For those of you
that have never heard of Bikram Yoga it takes place in a heated room which
allows your body and muscles to relax. You then gently stretch the body in to
26 poses that are performed in 2 sets in the 90 minute class.
I love this form of fitness because
during the class you are thinking to yourself 'why, why, why am I doing this? I
am too hot I can't breath' but once you have completed your 90 minute class you
feel amazing, I can't even describe it.
My tip if you are thinking of taking up
this form of fitness is to stay in the room. Your body maybe screaming for you
to leave but you need to acclimatise to the heat.

Dance
As you can tell I love dance and for me
this is one of the best ways that I can keep fit. Everyone by now has heard of
Zumba and it really is a great way of keeping fit as you don't really feel that
you are doing a workout.
Bokwa is a new form of fitness that is becoming popular. I have never tried it but from what I have read, it is a lot easier than it looks and you can even do it if you can't dance!
Here is a little video that shows you
what it is all about!
Do you feel self conscious about
going to class? Do you feel like you are going to be the odd one out trying to
keep up with the routine?
Well you can also find dance
fitness routines on YouTube that you can do in the comfort of your home. I am
always doing this as it can be hard to find time to go to classes and I can fit
these videos in with my free time.
Here are some of the videos that I love
at the moment.
Cycling
As you all know I bought a bike last year as it is a great way of
getting around and it also keeps you fit. I like to cycle at
my leisure as I am never in a big rush to get some where. The thing that
I want to stress is if you are thinking of taking up cycling then please invest
in safe equipment.
Lights, a helmet and a bell are a must and I know so many people
who have survived bike accidents due to wearing a helmet. I know what you
are thinking but there are some really stylish ones out there on the market so
please research and invest in one - you can still be a fashionista while
protecting your life!
I hope you have enjoyed my post and I would love to hear what your favourite way of keeping fit is.
